The Archetype
Beyond Africa emerged through an intuitive and meditative painting process. Gradually, a woman, the vast savanna, and a large wild cat moving silently through the tall grass revealed themselves.
The woman stands calmly and upright in the landscape. Her gaze is directed toward the distance, as though she were following an inner calling. Light shines through her dress, connecting her with the vastness of nature. There is nothing searching about her. She seems to have already chosen her own path.
The wild cat accompanies her from a respectful distance. It does not lead. It does not follow. It represents that primal freedom that arises when we shape our lives according to our own truth.
Beyond Africa tells of women who, at the beginning of the 20th century, chose their own paths as explorers, artists, or travelers — women who had the courage to leave familiar paths behind and follow their hearts. Not out of rebellion, but from a deep desire to experience life in all its vastness.
This work reminds us that freedom often begins when we find the courage to follow our own calling.
